June 1 2020

Dear Friends of Dundas St Centre United Church,

We are blessed during this time of uncertainty. While our building remains closed, we continue to worship together on Sundays through Zoom. Our Out of the Cold meals continued into April serving those in the community and our Good Samaritan Cupboard has filled several emergency orders and has contributed material to those making masks, hats, and gowns for essential workers. We continue to support each other through prayer, conversation, friendship, and fellowship.

Despite the pandemic happening, we are living our mission and we could not have done that without you. We thank you for attending worship services, picking up the phone to call a friend, smiling at an overworked grocery clerk, saying a prayer for those that you know and those that you might not. We thank you for all your generous gifts as we are all called to be disciples, to share in what it means to be part of a Christian community, expressing our loyalty and devotion to God.

We at Dundas St Centre appreciate those that have also given generously as our resources are stretched. While the building is closed our collection plates are not being passed, fundraising events and groups renting our facility have been cancelled; some of our costs have dropped but others remain. We will be okay with the use of our reserves, government subsidies, and your donations.

If you are wanting to share your generosity with Dundas St Centre United Church, we will gratefully receive your gifts. If you are wanting to share with our Yard Sale or the Good Samaritan Cupboard, please keep a box or bag with your items until the building re-opens. If you want to share financially, we are able to accept donations via Canada Post (cheques and post-dated cheques), Pre-Authorized Remittance (monthly donations from bank account or credit card), Interac E-transfers (from your bank account), and Canada Helps (one-time or monthly donations from a credit card) to help the Church live out its mission.

Specific instructions for each type of gift mentioned can be found by clicking on:    DONATE

In the next few days, you will receive an email  with a statement of what your gifts have been for 2020 as received from January 1 to April 30. Donations received after that will be on the statement produced in the fall.

We are looking forward to when our building re-opens again, to when our outreach programs arenít based on emergency only ordering, to when we can come together to worship in the same space and share in our Christian community. In the meantime, visit with each other on Sunday mornings via Zoom, or at another time with a phone call or a physically distant visit on a porch. Keep others in your thoughts and prayers as we experience our church community in new ways. We are still living out our mission; the Churchís and our own as disciples, even if from a distance.

As we continue, please do not hesitate to reach out to each other and to our staff. We want to ensure that people are receiving what they need from Dundas St Centre. We need to make sure that we are connecting and supporting one another in a variety of ways. Thank you for supporting one another and Dundas St Centre as the pandemic continues to change our lives.
